MedAngel ONE

MedAngel ONE – Connected Temperature Monitor for Medicines

MedAngel ONE is the perfect companion for your medications. MedAngel ONE is a temperature sensor that is easy to use, compact and connects to your smartphone, allowing you to store and transport your medications at the right temperature.

Features

Temperature Monitoring

MedAngel ONE always shows you the exact temperature with colourful symbols, at home, on the go or while travelling. At one glance, you can see when all is well (green heart), too warm (red heart) or too cold (blue heart).

Smart Alerts

A fridge door left open on a hot summer day? MedAngel ONE triggers an alarm if the temperature is critically out of range. The app warns you whenever the temperature approaches or exceeds the optimal temperature range. This can be a simple reminder to check the fridge door or to move a cool bag out of the sun.

Medication Specific

Simply choose your medication in the app and the specific optimal temperature ranges for that medication are automatically set up. Select long term storage or short term carrying mode to obtain the right temperature ranges for your use. All insulins, wide range of biologics, hormones and other injectables are supported.

Safety and Insights

So many variables come into play in your health: food, physical activity, mood, even weather – don’t let your medicine be one of them! MedAngel ONE helps you to see the full picture of your medications.

Long Lifetime and Waterproof

The MedAngel ONE temperature sensor is powered by a standard coin cell battery which lasts for 8-9 months. Simply replace it yourself and make your sensor last for years. The app will notify you when you need to replace your battery. MedAngel ONE is also waterproof so you can store it in the fridge or carry it in medical cool bags.

How it works

MedAngel ONE consists of a small temperature sensor, which connects to a mobile app on your phone via Bluetooth. The MedAngel ONE sensor is meant to be kept with your medications as it continuously measures the temperature at which they are stored. The MedAngel ONE app shows you the current temperature and alerts you when the optimal temperature range of your medication is exceeded, so that you can take action. A timeline helps you track temperature changes over the course of the last 30 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I use MedAngel ONE in my refrigerator?

For long term storage of most temperature-sensitive medications, 2 to 8°C is the recommended range, which should be compliant with the temperature in a refrigerator. However, many domestic refrigerators have internal warm or cold spots, or wide variations in overall temperature, so medications may be exposed to temperatures outside the recommended range.

It’s not all that complex. Often, it is enough to move your medications to a different shelf or to adjust the settings. Use MedAngel ONE to find the perfect spot in your fridge for your medications and keep on eye on it during seasonal changes!

How many MedAngel ONE sensors do I need?

That depends on your medications and on your lifestyle. Most of our insulin users, for example, have two sensors: one for their insulin in use, that they carry around with them during the day and one for their stock in the fridge at home. You might want to use only one sensor to put with your medications in your fridge and occasionally take with you in a cool bag, or you might also want to use two sensors to check on medications both at home and in your office fridge.

Can I track multiple medications with one MedAngel ONE sensor?

The MedAngel ONE sensor continuously measures temperature and is kept with the medications you want to monitor. If you are keeping multiple medications in one place, like your fridge, it makes sense to select and attribute them to one sensor in the app. The MedAngel ONE app will give you medication-based notifications, so if the temperature is critical for one of your medications but not for the others, you will only get an alert for that particular one.

Is the mobile app free?

Yes, the MedAngel ONE app which is to be used together with the temperature sensor is available to download for free on the Android Play Store and the App Store for compatible iPhone and iPad. By purchasing the MedAngel ONE sensor, you can use all functions of the app and there will be no in-app purchases or any other extra cost for using it.

Do I need an internet connection for the app to function?

No internet connection is required for the app to function, since the temperature sensor and the app are connected via Bluetooth. However, you will need to be connected to the internet to do the following:

– Set up the app for the first time by signing up and confirming your email
– Checking out the help manual and contacting MedAngel

If you log out of the app for any reason, you will have to be connected to the internet to log in again and continue using the app and sensor.

Do I need to be near my MedAngel ONE in order for it to work?

The MedAngel ONE sensor has an internal memory for temperature data for up to one week. When the sensor and your phone are not within Bluetooth range or when your phone is turned off or you are logged out from the app, you will not be able to receive the current temperature data from the sensor. When this happens, the MedAngel ONE sensor saves that data and transmits it to the app as soon as sensor and phone are connected again.

Can I connect multiple phones to one MedAngel ONE sensor?

MedAngel ONE should be paired with one phone, and connecting it to two phones is less ideal. The temperature sensor broadcasts temperature data via Bluetooth and the closest phone will receive it. This means that data might be end up scattered across two different phones. The timeline view, for example, would not be complete on either of them.

What are the different use modes in the app?

Many medications are stored in the fridge, which should maintain a temperature of 2 to 8°C, but some can also be removed from the fridge and stored at room temperature (usually up to 25°C) for a limited amount of time. MedAngel ONE knows the safe temperature ranges for your medication for both long-term and short-term storage. Simply select your use mode in the app by choosing either ‘storing’ or ‘carrying’ and the temperature ranges will adjust accordingly.

What kind of battery do I need for my MedAngel ONE sensor?

The sensor is powered by a lithium-Ion CR2032 battery. These are standard batteries that you should be able to find in any electronics store. It is important to get lithium batteries since alkaline batteries will not perform that well in a refrigerator.

Can I use MedAngel ONE on flights?

Yes, you can use MedAngel ONE on most flights, because the temperature sensor uses Bluetooth to connect to your phone. While Wi-Fi or cellular connections (required to make a phone call or send a text message) may need to be disabled on flights, Bluetooth connections are allowed with most airlines. Simply activate airplane/flight safe mode in the settings on your phone and then enable Bluetooth. This way, MedAngel ONE will monitor your medications during your flight as well.

What is the temperature measuring range of the sensor?

The temperature measurement range is -25°C – +60°C / -13°F – +140°F. While the sensor is accurate down to freezer-temperatures (-25°C – +60°C / -13°F – +140°F), the battery that comes with the sensor is not made for temperatures that cold and will not perform well. Therefore we, in general, do not recommend using the sensor in a freezer. However, you can get a special battery that will work reliably at low temps: It’s the same size, CR2032 button cell, but a different material: lithium manganese dioxide

How long does the CR2032 battery last?

The battery lasts up to 9 months and customer is responsible for replacement.

What is the transmission distance of the sensor?

Generally, between 10 and 30 meters. The range of a Bluetooth connection is influenced by multiple factors, such as materials of walls in a building, presence of other radiation, weather, battery status of your phone and more. In general, you should be able to get a connection to your sensor at least in the same room if not the same building. Please note that water blocks a Bluetooth signal to some extent, so when you are using water-activated cool bags, the signal range could be a bit shorter than usual.

How long does the sensor retain memory to back fill?

7 days – if you go in vacation for 2 weeks for example and you connect it once you are back, you can see temperatures of the last 7 days.

How do you delete a graph?

The graph is only available with data of the last 30 days. You should add the sensor again to get the graph deleted.

Is there a way that you can set up your own temperature range?

Unfortunately, not – temperature ranges depend on the medication you are using. If a medication is not available in the list, we can add it to our database but there is no way to customize it in the app.
