Software update for the t:slim X2 insulin pump

In June 2022, New Zealand Medical & Scientific Ltd (NZMS) issued a product correction letter for Tandem Diabetes Care™ t:slim X2™ Insulin Pump. You can view this letter here.

If your pump is running on software 6.4.1 or lower, follow the below instructions to update your pump. Updating your pump may take 15-30 minutes depending on your internet connection speed.

Upon completion of this update, your pump will only be compatible with the Dexcom G6 CGM System. This software update cannot be reversed.

What you need to complete the update:

1. Your unique Update ID Number (this has been provided to you by NZMS Diabetes via earlier email communications).
2. The Tandem Micro USB cable supplied with your original pump.
3. A computer with an internet connection. DO NOT DISCONNECT your pump from the computer during the update process.
4. A convenient time to stop all insulin delivery, detach your infusion set, and remove your cartridge.
5. Supplies to change your cartridge. We recommend performing the update when you are ready for a new cartridge.
6. A backup insulin delivery option in case there are any issues updating your pump.

Your Personal Profiles and Pump Settings will not be affected by the update, but your insulin on board (IOB) will be reset to zero.

Follow all instructions on the screen step by step without jumping ahead.

Do not disconnect your pump until you see “Update Successful” on your computer screen.

If you have an active CGM session at the time of the update, when the update is complete, navigate to Options > My CGM > Start Sensor > Skip (sensor code) > Select blue tick. Please allow up to 30 minutes for your existing CGM session to reconnect.
