NZMS Diabetes supports community-based organisation @NoMoreFearNZ in spotlighting the type 1 diabetes community

AUCKLAND, New Zealand – 20 January 2023: NZMS Diabetes are proud to support community-based organisation No More Fear NZ with their efforts to empower the type 1 diabetes community in New Zealand.

The organisation founded by Lavina Good and son, Toby, passionately advocates for all New Zealanders living with type 1 diabetes, a condition close to their heart as Toby lives with diabetes himself.

NZMS Country Manager, Kristin Brown, recently said “For the 27,800 Kiwis who live with Type 1 diabetes, life can be a challenging journey that impacts almost all facets of their lives. We applaud campaigners like Toby Good from No More Fear NZ nomorefear.org.nz who has taken the initiative to support and encourage others and their families, who like himself, are living with diabetes to not live in fear of potentially dangerous glucose levels.”

No More Fear NZ say their goal is to see a world where Kiwis living with type 1 diabetes can have access to life-changing technology like Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM), which is a system that measures real-time glucose levels continuously. Lavina describes CGM as a welcome member of their family.

Brown says “Toby is bringing awareness to Continuous Glucose Monitoring – a simple but powerful technology, which monitors glucose levels and notifies of changes in real-time, easing the burden of diabetes monitoring and allowing individuals to make better-informed decisions around their diabetes care.”

NZMS Diabetes is proud to bring attention to No More Fear NZ, and work with them to empower individuals living with type 1 diabetes to advocate for better diabetes care.
