Pharmac’s public consultation announcement is one step closer for Type 1 diabetes community

AUCKLAND, New Zealand – 3 April 2024: Dexcom Inc. (Nasdaq: DXCM), is excited about Pharmac’s latest announcement today regarding the consultation process for Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) and Insulin Pump funding in New Zealand – we are so close to people with T1D in NZ getting access to (CGM) systems!

Kirstin Brown, Country Manager at Dexcom said it has been a great experience working through the tender process so far with the Pharmac project team.

“They have actively engaged with all stakeholders across Diabetes Healthcare in New Zealand and put the needs of people with diabetes at the core of their decision making.  It feels like a landmark moment for Healthcare in New Zealand, and I encourage people with diabetes, their families and caregivers to seize this opportunity and positively engage in this consultation process.”

NZMS would work with Pharmac and other stakeholders on an Implementation Program to help people living with diabetes who must move from an unfunded to a funded system. Our mission is to do this with minimal disruption to healthcare professionals and ensure affected people are not delayed in getting access to funded product.

More information will be available on our website soon regarding the Implementation Program, however, should you have any questions relating to our Dexcom and Tandem products, please reach out to us via NZDiabetesFunding@dexcom.com. If you’d like to join our mailing list, please complete the form here and once details are finalised, we will send you updates regarding this program.

While we appreciate that this funding proposal would affect people living with T1D, we will continue to support and advocate our local “CGM For All” campaign to extend access of technology for all people living with diabetes in NZ.
